Our focus is primarily on rescuing cats and controlling the feral cat population in the city of Detroit.  Our long-term goals include expanding our shelter into a larger and more permanent shelter space that allows us to serve more kitties!  

Founder Marie Perreault began rescuing in 2015, when she rescued her first cat.  Since then, her efforts have grown and adapted into Detroit Community Cat Rescue. We are Detroit's first licensed cat only shelter, and we are a 501c3 nonprofit.

 Led by our founder, Marie Perreault, we are a team of unpaid volunteers that focus on a variety of tasks related to helping the cat population in Detroit.
